Hello, we are students in an IT special topics cour
se studying IT governance and strategic business-IT
alignment.
Our
first
interview objective is to learn about how your ent
erprise creates value, its value chain. We can
talk about enterprise value creation as a whole or
if your enterprise has multiple value chains, we ca
n
focus on the value chain with which you are most fa
miliar.
At its simplest we understand that a value includes
: inputs (resources coming into the organization),
transformations (activities that create value by ch
anging inputs into outputs), and outputs (the produ
cts,
goods and services produced by your organization).
We are looking for a high-level understanding of
how your enterprise creates value. We realize that
this can be a very complex topic. We just would l
ike
to understand the “big picture.”

put of your enterprise’s value chain?

What are the major activities in the organization t
hat turn these resources/inputs into
products/outputs?
Our
second
objective is to understand, at least in part, how i
nformation technology helps the enterprise
create value. This understanding is central to our
course topic of understanding strategic business-I
T
alignment.

objective is to understand your enterprise’s IT rec
ruiting goals over the next several years,
especially as they pertain to the potential employm
ent of new College of Technology Innovation
