“Budgets provide poor value. They fail to address current competitive imperatives. And they lead to dysfunctional behavior. It is perhaps little wonder that an increasing number of large organisations are attracted by the idea of breaking free from this budget-induced annual performance trap. They want to learn from organisations that have already escaped to find out what alternatives are available.” (Hope & Fraser, 2003)



With reference to the beyond budgeting movement you are required to write an academic essay that examines the beyond budgeting concept. Analyse and critique the model and its practical application using academic literature and case study evidence to support your arguments.

Description, explanation, interpretation and Analysis of Beyond Budgeting         (40%)

Critique/ appraisal and evaluation of the model using supporting material                        (30%)

Structure of Report (introduction, logical development and conclusions)

Use of English (spelling, grammar and syntax)
